Oh, I see. Done back when—he’s now armed with chisels, a circular saw, speed square, clamps, drills, sawzall and other good toys.

And...SIL didn’t feel comfortable yet finishing the gate on his own and his business had him traveling quite a bit lately.
He hired someone to finish the gate and it looks good.
It’s going to be a while before I get back there so this was a smart move.
Two big labs have a place to play now as does the family.
