Dry well and stone

I am  putting in a tub with holes.  While digging I have uncovered a massive amount of smooth stones ranging from a bout an inch in diameter to about the size of an egg. Can I used those stones to fill in the sides of the well or do they need to be more uniform or is crushed gravel better.Appreciate any thoughts on this

Use them...will work fine.

Be sure to wrap everything, including the stone, in a filter fabric. Otherwise, the spaces between stones with fill quickly with silt and become less effective.
