The Revos apparently are designed to clamp railroad ties and pull together horrifically prepared joints

The work is probably already done, but I'll throw this in as an option for information seekers out there.
Couple of years ago, I needed some holes drilled in 1/8" steel rails that were larger than I could achieve with my drill press.  I hit the yellow pages for my town and happened to find a black smith.  When I went to his shop, I found he had just about every metal working machine you could imagine, including several large punches.  He whipped out my dozen holes in a matter of minutes, with accuracy and the holes were clean.  That was the best $25 I had ever spent.  Just an option.
