Source for spring hinge
#7
My wife has asked that I build her a "Couch Arm Table".  Can anyone help me with a source for the spring hinges this project would need?  Thanks.

I made cafe doors with spring hinges.  You might be able to make those work.

Or a couple of pieces of wide webbing connecting the bottoms of the arms.  It would wrap over the couch arm and provide the clamping force needed.  You will have to make a mock up to make sure it works. (It works  perfectly in my mind.

The webbing might be kinder to the couch than the wood.

Google "spring hinges for doors" and you'll see lots of hits.  Here's one at Home Depot that might work.

McMaster-Carr has several styles that might work. Look for "Metal Self-Closing Surface-Mount Hinges with Holes"
