Craftsman 6-inch jointer
#2
When turning the knob to adjust depth of cut, everything used to feel solid. I could turn the knob 1/8 inch either way to adjust the infeed table. Now the knob has free-play of almost a full turn. ? ! The jointer works fine, just bothers me that the cut adjuster is now sloppy.
I turned the jointer over to see all the working parts. Both tension plates (part 13) on the dovetail slides were loose, so tightened them. Neither illustration shows the threaded piece that turns on the shaft (part 31), but when turning the knob, that sleeve does not respond immediately, it seems loose. It is split with a tensioner bolt, but that tension does not affect the slack in turning.
Any help will be appreciated.
