Securing seat slats

I built patio furniture and used glued ends with pocket holes on the underside. So far it has held up.

Depending on the Cedar type, it might be too soft.
I use Cypress for Adirondack chairs.
I only drill a single hole in each end of the seat slat.
I don’t see the need for 2 per end.
I make sure the hole is larger than the screw as well.
