I made a bunch in the past to fill time.  Lots of sanding, lots of glue and clamping.

By the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

5yrs ago, my neighbor had her dead walnut tree taken down.  I got all the wood
big enough to burn and build stuff with.  Finally had some time to pull a few
pieces out.  This box came out of a gnarled, half dead crotch of a big limb
coming out of the main trunk.  Always forget to take pics before I start cutting.
It was a challenge.  Trying to cut around the rotton stuff and a major mistake.....
it came out pretty nice.  I'm going to return it to her.

I have a niece that lives in Alaska.
She and her hubby prowl the beaches of Cook Inlet in search of peace of mind and agates.
She posts beautiful pics of their adventures.
When I lived there I loved going to the beach. It is a magical place.

In looking at her pics the thought crossed my mind....
maybe I could some how incorporate them into a box.
So, we entered into a barter...she sends me a bag of agates
and I send her a box.
They picked agates that were special for them to be a part of the box.
I had this design in mind, but no one to build it for.
....so.... when their agates rolled into my hands, there was magic.
I thought it was a great design for newly weds.

The case is 200yr old oak and the fronts are walnut.
It has my favorite, a hidden drawer and a removable tray.

It was bitter sweet to see it leave my shop......but it did, indeed,
find it's way to exactly where it belongs.

It was an amazing, humbling experience for me.

Swell job on all of them and the currant one as well.

Seeing this again I had an idea with the handle of the guitar one is have a sliding panel on the front of the neck to open that up. Yes
It is always the right time, to do the right thing.
