De-tension? Used to not but now I do.  A couple years ago I was unable to center my blade - I had run out of adjustment.
Upon inspection I discovered this:

The upper wheel shaft / spindle had bent over time (not cracked, just bent).
This is what it's supposed to look like (new part):

Tire replacement? Put on urethane tires when I bought it used, maybe 8 or so years ago.  Just replaced them again last year when they started to crack and fall off.

Bevel?  Never done it but maybe I should try it.

I've never released the tension, replaced the tires, or rounded the back edge of a blade.   Been doing it this way for the last 25 years or so, and so far, so good.
