This sharpness aspect is interesting.  I have used this chisel rather frequently for more than ten years and I have never sharpened it.  
Uhoh   It is one of a set of Bahcos that a fellow woodnetter sharpened and gave me after my daughter died in 2008.

I marvel that it came out exactly as it went in.  The entrance (and ultimate exit) slit is exactly 1/4” long.

Looking better!  Still a little color to it and I imagine it is still tender though.

For a cut like that you may want to see your family doctor for some antibiotics as an ounce of prevention against infection
Come to think of it this reminds me that my tetanus booster is probably overdue
