There is a local ad for a Grizzly model 1079 drum sander.  I don't seem able to find out much about that model or when they were made.  I've heard that in early days Grizzly left something to be desired in their equipment.  Anyone here have or have had one of these. Asking price is $300.00.  I have not seen the unit except a photo.  Thanks for any info.

That model is shown on Grizzly's website, below is a link. That doesn't help with the history or value, I know but you might call Grizzly and inquire there

Even if I didn't need it, I would snap it up, if it runs and doesn't make any funny noises!

Thanks all.  As it turned out someone got there before me so it's gone.

Just for reference, I have that sander.

I had huge issues with the sandpaper coming loose and changed it over to hook and loop.  But now I have trouble with burning on light colored woods.

I only use one drum now I find two drums are unnecessary.

Dust collection is horrible.  The whole bottom of the machine under the platten is open.

Bottom line: its a useable machine ok for the right price, but not one I would buy again.
