woodworking ideas for a grandpa to do with a 8 year old grandson
#23
I’ve been doing a little research along the lines of a Sloyd program for my grandkids...simple projects that gradually build skills. Fortunately, I’ve got a few years to solidify things before they’re old enough.
Dave Arbuckle was kind enough to create a Sketchup model of my WorkMate benchtop: http://www.arbolloco.com/sketchup/MauleSkinnerBenchtop.skp

If he likes the water, then wooden boats that can be made from scraps and painted.
Things like the Monitor, Merrimack, tug / tow boats, tankers, sail boats, and more. Start out simple and let him augment them however he wants.
It's also a fun way to get him looking for and reading about different types of boats and ships and learn some fun history.

Cheers,
