There is really nothing special about this wood for your purposes other than it might take more work to make them into a workbench.

The guy is pricing it full retail for the rustic chic market. That’s not you.

When I lived in Northeast PA I bought a lot of lumber from this guy Carl Balliet. He's just south of Wilkes Barre and worth the trip (at least that was the case 5 years ago). I've since moved to SC. He has a wide range of stuff at a fair price. Check out his website.
