For me, where Thomas excels over many other prominent makers is not his finishing techniques (there are many finishing experts out there). It is his skills in dismantelling things!  I have fixed things in new projects, but taking things apart is a different story. In addition to his wife, he has a helper (part time, perhaps) in his shop. I'm surprised to see him handling the big pieces mostly by himself given his physical build.

You can see cuts in his hands, some caused by hand tools. If anything that is needed for his shop, it is a sawstop given the way he handles narrow and small stock with a bare hand on his saw. Since his daughter owns one, I'm sure he thought about that, but decided it is not necessary.
