My 12" has a 1/4" 6 TPI blade in it 99% of the time.
Currently I'm cutting a lot of small pieces for Christmas gifts and a toy project. I usually have a 3/16 or 1/4" 4 TPI blade on the 12" for cutting bandsaw boxes. I got new 1/8 blades and they did what you suggest, deteriorate rapidly and burn wood, cutting this large batch of small items in hard wood. Luckily I'm done cutting the small pieces as of yesterday.
