I have several pieces of cherry that have a black water stain. The cherry has no other finish on it. I tried to sand away the stain with limited success. The cherry is being used to make some shaker oval boxes. Since the wood is so thin I am afraid I might sand right through it. Is there a product available that will remove the stain? Thanks.

There is a product known as wood bleach, oxalic acid, I believe. You might want to experiment with it. Not sure how it works on cherry, but with my limited use, it seemd to help somewhat
