Crosscut Sled Base Thickness
#14
Lubricity is an awesome word.

I've never used melamine for a sled. I like that it would glide across the tables surface, but I like the top side and the fence to be non-lubricitous. (Do you see what I did there?)

I do have some melamine scrap, and I need a miter sled. Maybe I'll give it.a shot.

I wax the bottoms of my sleds and jigs.

Stay lubricitous my friends.

None whatsoever as long as the sheet (as well as the table saw top) is flat.

I know cuz I've built sleds using materials thinner than 3/8", just like Barryvabeach.

Thanks to all. Got sidetracked with a mobile clamp storage rack and will build the sled this weekend. Will use the 3/8 bb ply and work to make it as lubricious as possible with the help of some paste wax.
