Replacing Band Saw Tires
#14
I just received the new ur tires (blue Carter) and immediately noticed that they are about 1/2 the thickness of the original black tires (+- 1/8"). In itself, that is probably not a problem. However, the aluminum wheels on the Delta saw have shoulders that were flush with the original tires. The new tires will be recessed about 1/6" (estimated). Of course, if the blade is properly centered, there will be no problem. But, as you know, stuff happens and occasionally they get off center and have to be adjusted. I'm afraid that either the blade teeth or aluminum wheels may get damaged if this happens. Anyone have any experience with this? Legit concern? When buying these, I didn't see any options regarding thickness.

I wouldn't like that. You know there will be a band come off eventually.

The ones I got from highland were the same as my black tires.
Maybe you have exceptional thick tires. Dunno

They are +- 1/8" thick. Is that unusual?

I found that they also have the thicker ones. So, I will try to do an exchange. Should have paid closer attention to thickness when I ordered.
