band saw illumination

I use Ikea Jansjo lights on my bandsaw and drillpress. These clamp on easily and solidly, can be positioned to point wherever I want, and are cheap. I don't want batteries on machines that are plugged in, so mine go on and off with the machine switch.

But Kudzu makes a good point. Getting rid of bandsaw vibration can help more than the light.

Machine vibration should be kept to a minimum. But even the best bandsaw needs good lighting. The two are unrelated. If you can't see the line well, you can't cut well (to the line or from the line).

I have a Delta magnetic gooseneck light stuck to the back of my old Craftsman 12" BS.  It's been fine, though it doesn't like being bent as far as I need it to be.  I could probably add an angle iron bracket so it just hangs straight down, but it's close enough to where I want it that I don't bother, and it never shakes off during use.

I'm using a "magnetic sewing machine light."  This is a magnetic base with a bunch of LEDs.  I don't have a specific brand to recommend because on Amazon and Aliexpress there are a bunch of versions that all look exactly the same.  Mine looks just like the ones pictured below.  The magnetic is very strong and the LED is very light, so it has no trouble staying in place.  It's definitely worth a $5-10 try.

Examples:

Those were just the first couple I found.

Someday I'll understand how a product can be produced in China a delivered to my door for $6.32.

I have a magnetic light (forget the brand but looks similar to the LV one) that I move between bandsaw and lathe. Should maybe get another one.

But I also keep a few of the "cheap" headlamps you can sometimes get from Harbor Freight around. I find those to be very helpful too.

I have a magnetic base light like the Peachtree model and seem to always bump my head into it as I'm pretty tall.  Considering LED strip tape and sticking it either side of the tensioning wheel on the upper cabinet.  I already have the power supply just need to buy more LED tape.

I bought two of this on amazon and they are bright and stick on top of the cover of the drill press and the neck can flex anywhere you want.

Years ago I had one just like the Peachtree woodworking model. I had picked up cheap at Harbor Freight. Worked great and never moved.
In a fit of stupidity, I let it go with my old bandsaw when I sold it. When my new bandsaw arrived I went to buy another one, only to find out HF doesn't carry them anymore.

Just bought the sewing machine light for my scroll saw. Epoxied a fender washer to the saw's aluminum chassis to provide a base for the magnet. Plenty of light output; flexible wand with plenty of reach. Have not tried it yet in working conditions, but seems to be solid and a keeper. Amazon for $13.00.

Sorry. Can't figure out how to import picture of lamp.

Hey Mark,  I bought this one after reading your message. -  https://www.amazon.com/JANSANE-Lighting-...193&sr=8-8  it was delayed a bit in arriving, but wow, what a strong magnet, nice light.   I have a 17 inch bandsaw, and with the magnet base on the side of the frame, the head of the light is a little shy of the blade, but still lights up the table pretty well, and if I need to, I can always mount it to the upper wheel cover.  Nice find.
