I replaced it with a Kohler seat with soft close hinges.  It allows you to closed the seat without waking up your significant other.  But what surprised me was the difference in comfort.  All the seats I have ever had were basically flat with a continuous radious around the perimeter. 

But this design looks like it was drawn with a French curve.  It is hard to describe, but the difference in comfort is significant.  They address all the features except the comfort which will be the one feature you will like the best.
