Return

<p>Hello to all. I see many new names. I have been absent from this sub-forum for 8 years. That came about because of illnesses that fully disrupted my life. I decided to take the risk and return, like the prodigal son. I was so full of joy seeing a post from my special pal Timberwolf. I hope that much of the old guard are still around. I am still building acoustic guitars and a few electrics, but some of the illnesses have made that more of a challenge.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>I would be happy and honored to hear from anyone to whom this message has importance. Oh, and, I can still get tools and knives "wicked sharp[tm]" I do not know whether the nickname assigned to me by the forum; "sharpening guru" is still attached to my name and reputation. And, by the way, I am still at least as ornery as I was; probably worse because one of my health challenges is inside my brain, the pre-frontal lobe that controls memory and judgment skills. It is medically referred to as damage to the "executive function," the part of the brain that is responsible for short term memory and organization. It is bad enough that, on my own, I retired myself fom my still very active career as a trial lawyer and judge---a painful necessity and totally life-changing. Doctors are hoping I am not heading for dementia, but they have also told me I will&nbsp; likely be blind in 3-5 years. And, my heart is failing.</p><p><br></p><p>I figured I should return and be as disruptive, but oddly helpful while I could recall what orneriness I displayed and be able to apologize : <img src="https://www.forums.woodnet.net/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" data-sceditor-emoticon="

Welcome back, Mike! First think that popped into my mind when i saw Mtobey was SHARPENING! That topic still gets a lot of attention around here. I will welcome your return as long as you are able to contribute. Since you left, I've had 2 knee replacements, a stent, and I've moved across the country.
Still Learning,

Welcome back we need all the warm bodies here we can get. It's kind of lonely here sometimes.

Welcome back. I think I was still in lurking mode when you were last active, but
I do recall you for sure.

Winkgrin Welcome back, Mike..!!!!!! I knew you could do it!!!!!!..Let's get another knock down, drag out sharpening thread going again soon!!!!!!..

Best way I know of to dodge the dementia bullet is keep interacting with people, and this forum is a great place to do it, as you well know!!!!!! At 89, this forum has helped me tremendously!!!! And if a doctor tells you something you don't like....find another doctor !!!!!!!
Winkgrin .....We had some great discussions going back in the day, and we can do it again...And if you really want to risk getting "down in the dirt", come on down to the basement!!!!!! Down there, we take no prisoners!!!!!!!
Laugh All great guys and great woodworkers, you will be welcome!!!!!!!!

Welcome back!

I am so glad to see you post again.

I know that my check went stale long, long ago (probably before the snow melted in front of your shop door).
My only concern about that was your well-being.

You just made my day. :-)
