Takaushi Japanese Chisels
#2
Anybody hear of them or use them?  I purchased a dovetail chisel from Lee Valley and that's what I received.  Seems to be a decent chisel.  White oak handle.  Hoop was pre-set.  Needed some honing and a bit of work on the back, but seems to cut nicely.  I haven't tried chopping with it, so I can't report on edge durability.  I tried looking them up on the internet and couldn't find anything.  I'm wondering if this is a factory made chisel or handmade.  At the price point of $77.50 for the 3/8" (9mm), it could very well be hand made.  That price puts it into the same price tier as PM-V11 ($88) and between an equivalent Iyoroi $46) or Nishiki ($110) chisel.
Still Learning,
