has anybody made Woodsmith smartphone amplifier?

I'm thinking of making one and wonder if I need to make the opening thicker because my iphone has a otterbox case installed.  I wouldn't remove it just to using it in the stand.  Another thing is does it really work?  I like to listen to things off my phone, but I don't like the hassle of having to connect to "bluetooth" all the time.

Thanks for your opinions.

with my phone the speaker is at the bottom, if I cup my hand around the bottom of the phone, the phone gets louder.

I’ve made 3 wood phone speakers of my own design.
Include your case or it won’t fit without taking it off—and, you won’t.
