The problem with cheap files is that they dull quickly on steel. Should be able to use any flea market files for aluminum.

If you can answer why one needs high quality files or rasps for wood, then you probably just heard yourself answer why one wants high quality files for aluminum (or for brass or bronze).

If one gets lucky, flea market files can actually be higher quality than the Mexican or Chinese files that barely passed QA.
