I believe it is, but did you know that make a special product for chopping boards that may be just the ticket for a salad bowl: OSMO has a surprisingly wide range of products.

My uncle has built many pieces with cherry over 40 years. He likes Tried and True oil finish. It’s popular with gunsmiths as well.
