Hello! I have some mildew spots staining a few things like the legs of my work bench, etc. Any tips on how to remove the stains short of sanding?

You can always use Google.
A quickie: Chlorine bleach, Tilex, and a lot of wood treating related concoctions. Follow up with a non-BLO finish. Other than almost impossible to assure its provenance, they say Tung oil is not attractive to hungry bugs.
Heirlooms are self-important fiction so build what you like. Someone may find it useful.

I use TSP in hot water plus bleach to remove mold on my deck.
