Would buy again.
In 2022, I purchased a DeWalt 735X as the 735 is a shop proven machine. Included was mobile machine stand and extra blades. It replaced an old 3HP 220v Sunhill 15" planer which was just too heavy and cumbersome to move around anymore as there is no shop room to keep a planer set up and ready to go. Recommend a mobile stand as about 70 lbs. it is a bit much to carry around Runs off the cyclone with a 4" hose. That and the built in DeWalt exhaust fan keep the chips, sawdust, etc., out of the air and off/out of the machine. Have not had the need to change the blades. But it does appear to be "Ezee-2-Do". As for the electrical, it has dedicate circuit. A few times utilized a 12 gauge less than 25 feet long extension cord with out any problems. To keep the machine cooler and from bogging down or tripping the internal breaker, only take light cuts. Two speed planer -- only change when running. Noisy operation. When is use, I turn off the hearing aids and wear hearing protection. Depth of cut stops are accurate, the fold up in/outfeed tables flat. Automatic carriage feature locks down. Have an uninstalled Wixey digital read out that I need to install. I find the depth of cut scale/indicator "lacking." Before purchase, I checked at a few tool repair shops about a helix cutter. Was told that a helix cutter will void the warrantee and the motor was not designed to run a helix.

I would suggest that you at least take a look at the Makita 2012NB. I looked it up compared to the Dewalt in price and was shocked to see that the Makita is significantly more expensive at $940 vs $600 for the Dewalt. I don't think the price difference was that big when I made my decision. I really liked my Makita but upgraded a while ago because I had an opportunity to buy a much bigger stationary machine, but the Makita was a very good portable machine. I have no experience with the Dewalt and am not sure the price difference is justified, but you should at least give it 5 minutes consideration.

It's great. Best I can tell the benchmark for bench top planers.

I had two 734s, and this is my second 735. Converting it with the Byrd head, smartest tool decision I've made.

I've had mine for several years and it works great! I put a Wixey gauge on it and that makes it possible to dial it in exactly where you want it. If I used it more I would get the Shelix head for it.
