Something for a July Project?
#25
Second corner...needed a bit of clean up..

Once I checked it for square...

So..now the back corners are now done...

So, what is next up?

It will involve these 3 items...The "Front" will be trimmed for length, and then attached via through dovetails...
The Top?

Also needs to be trimmed down a bit...and a rebate milled on each end, and along the "back edge"..

So it can sit in a groove along the back and the 2 sides...so that it sits flush with the top edges...

Then see about how to attach that lid...
Stay tuned..

Needed to cut 2 bevels, so...

Tilt the blade over to the correct angle...took a little bit of fussing...then run the parts through...

Next up...join the front to the sides...more dovetails to cut...someday, I just might get good at doing them?

One corner done did....as for the other end...?

Spacing problem?   at least it fits...

There is an issue with how the angled sides meet the beveled front...will correct that after a glue up has been done.

Later today?   have 3 grooves to plough..so I can fit the top of the box into them..Rebates on 3 sides are already milled into the top..the 3 that do not have a bevel...Top is to be slid into the grooves, glued in place...and sit flush with the top of the box..

We'll see how this goes...fun part?   Rigging up a way to hold the panels while I run the Stanley #45....

Stay tuned..

Frog Drowner with an EF-0 attached, blew through here last night,,,trees are down, tree limbs everywhere...Dungeon Creek was running through the shop..and the Wi-Fi Interwebbies was hit and we loss all internet...from last evening until about 2pm today....

Waiting on the floor of the shop to dry out...

Before all that "Fun" arrived..I managed to plough 3 grooves..

On the top edge of both side panels..and then one at the top of the back panel...

Test the fit...this needed a hair more depth..

Looks about right...

Might as well glue the entire mess together?

Might have been a bit skimpy on clamps?

Waiting on the shop to dry out...then clean this box up, and start to fit the lid..once that is done, add a base, and see about a finish of some sort?
Stay tuned..

Floor IS starting to dry out a bit...I dumped out the dust bag from the belt sander to act as "Floor Dry"..

Clamps have been removed and hung away....needed to use a plane for a bit..

To level the opening for the lid to sit into...

Including going across end grain....plane is a Millers Falls No. 8, with OEM iron....seemed to have very little trouble..
Was trying to fit the lid...and see where it will need cut/trimmed at..

Have a few cuts to make, next time I am in the shop...
Stay tuned...
