I built these years ago:
It's a photo of a photo, so quality of image is poor.
Still in the shop. Back in San Jose.
Wow! that is some spectacular wood. I dream of having some like that someday. Very nice cabinets as well, but the craftsmanship is a little upstaged by the wood.
This new format is tough.
Anyway, the wood was very nice as you say, but what a PITA it was. First, from a $ perspective; 8 board feet of quilted (sold at a very high rate) can be expected to yield as little as 2 or 3 feet of real quilted lumber. You watch your money evaporate quick as you cut away the unfigured stock which is little more than paint grade. Second, western soft maple is stringy and soft. It doesn't take to the knife well. There's a lot of extra work dolling up cabinets like this.
More,
Pretty amazing stuff.  Only a ww'er can appreciate fully it.

PS you should post this stuff at Sawmillcreek or Lumberjocks, too. (You can upload pics directly)
Wow, thats stunning wood. I have been through a lot  of maple and never seen that degree of figure. Very nice work too,
Some wonderful work and wood there.

I would just like to get some to turn someday
All veneer, or a mix of solid, and veneer? It certainly is busy wood.
Entirely solid.
