Unfortunately, we don't have Menards anywhere near, just lowes and HD.

We have a hillbilly population, as well as college students and professors, they all pretty much have the same lumber-mishandling rituals as far as I can tell.

HD and Lowes can both special order it in for you. What I don't know is what grade they will be bringing in. Refer to the link I had before>>>>Things to look for If it isn't grade B then Menards is once again beating them, because that is what I get when I special order BB ply from Menards. It's as good as any I ever got from Paxtons, and some other well regarded supply houses near me. Paxton when you can get BB is 5x5' sheets, 3/4" (19mm) is 69 bux. Menards sells me a 4x8' sheet 3/4 at 69 bux too, and what I have gotten from Menards is hillbilly proof, or at least none were allowed to play with it.

Yeah I was using hillbillies as a generic term, basically it's not theirs, so they don't care. I just have difficulty embracing that as neighbor material.

You might want to reach out to Menards if they are only an hour or two away. I can remember when they opened the first store anywhere near me, it was 30 minutes North of where I lived then, which was North of Dayton already. Every week there were 2 groups of contractors who drove up from Louisville Ky, that had to be 6, 7 hours round trip, and they would come in and totally fill several trailers, and head home. After a while I stopped seeing them, asked at the desk, and was told they were on delivery. Delivered it was all still cheaper to buy then what they could get it for locally. Lousiville is a MUCH bigger town than Sidney Ohio I might add. They hire drivers just for them, and to some extent they can set prices. It's possible they are already delivering one day every week, or 2 weeks to your area. If you don't call you'll not know, but they do want folks to be all excited about them, when they come to town, so they offer some perks. Read my tag line about the worst thing they can do to you.......What are the odds of that?

I don't display sigs, so the only reason I know that Menards might kill me and eat me is because I remember from before I turned sigs off. Thanks for your post, that's really informative.

Looks like the closest Menards is about an hour over the Ohio border.  For my needs, I might be better off financially figuring out how to deal with the sawmills over a valley from here and using hardwood.  If I was doing commercial work, I'd definitely consider Menards.

I am going to go and talk to the pro desk at HD and see what they say.  I'd be a lot happier if I could point to a link on the HD website though.

I've never, ever seen BB at Home Depot or Lowe's.  The best BB I've ever purchased was American-made from a specialty plywood dealer - Anderson Plywood in Culver City (for those in the LA metro area).  I get 4x8 sheets of really high quality BB there.  But you have to pay for it.  Good BB is not cheap!  Anderson Plywood also sells veneered ply of cherry, oak, mahogany, walnut, etc.  One nice thing about living near LA is there's hardly anything I can't find within an hour's drive of my home.

This is where I get mine and is one of my favorite material sources. They also have a very nice tool store that includes Festool.

Not sure where you are, They have a warehouse in Lewistown, Pa.  Remember baltic birch is 5x5', so factor that in.  They may be willing to rip it for you, if not I'm sure they'd let you rip it in the warehouse or parking lot with your own straight edge and saw.  I've found them to be nice guys and it never hurts to ask.

I can recommend the Reading location they have; when I needed good plywood, that's where I go, and its a 2 hour drive, but worth it.

How far are you from Brookville Lumber Co.?  I don't know if they stock BB ply, but it may be worth a phone call.  Bet that if they do, they'd be willing to cut it for you.

I get my BB ply from Mars Lumber, but that's way over here in Butler Co, so that would be a pretty long drive.  Still closer than Ohio though.

Lewistown is less than an hour from here.  Looks like Brookville would be about 2 hours.

Yeah the almighty Menards has it. And if he is only 2 hours away from one thats no big deal as its well worth the drive. Im going to go up to on in Wichita,ks from here in Fort Worth because they have stuff i cant get here.  Mainly goimg for gutters as all i can get locally is white or chocolate brown....
