Ok, so I went back and looked things over. The thumb screw hole for the beading stop had a spare spur cutter screwed into the threaded hole with an incorrect screw. I think I got this off Ebay years ago and must have through that was the correct place for spare spurs. Going to have to find a correct set of spur screws as well as a depth stop. Actually, I think I can get my brother to make one for me.  

Thankful that you all are the smart guys. I though I was using this correctly the whole time. I have the manual saved now and will be #50 smarter as I go forward with grooves, and beads. 

Now to hammer out some mortices.
