An HH pot (if you can find it) is 15 times more expensive than a crock pot! Unless someone uses hide glue every week, if not every day, a crock pot does the same job for occasional users. New crock pots have at least two heat settings.

Well a Blue Spruce chisel is 15 times more expensive than one I can get at Harbor Freight too...

Doesn't mean I'm going to run out to Harbor Freight and get one.

If you used your Blue Spruce chisel only once half a year, you're a tool collector, not a user. The guys I do know who own premium tools are not occasional users; they're more like weekend warriors. On the other hand, someone who uses hide glue a lot should really get an HH glue pot.

Maybe............

See my other post on why I like a crock pot for hammer veneering.

Any linky? A search of your posts didn't come up with anything crock pot or hammer veneering.

Sorry, old timers disease another thread.

Basically, I find having a reservoir of hot water is handy for keeping hammer hot, as well as adding some water to glue and cleaning up, which hot water it 10x better than cold.

That's an old timer's tip. Thanx.
