So you were working on the face of the plywood, not the edge/end, right? I would think that would work pretty well.

The boards are held vertically, just like for a tablesaw or a router jig. So cutting into face (otherwise you'd have to dogbone the inside corners) with the side of the bit.

Edit to add photo (I was too lazy to clean off bench so pulled this stock photo from Shaper.) This is how the material is held and cut. One can also make a jig for holding the material instead of using their "workstation".
