No worries. I have my moments, too. And as long as we're on the subject of files, depending upon what software you have, you can import photos as bitmaps and then use the software to trace vectors around the perimeter and even details, like veins in a leaf, for example, if you can create enough contrast for the software to distinguish it from the background. I have used this feature several times to create drawings that otherwise would have been very difficult to draw. Here's an example.

I’ve done this a few times with V-Carve. It doesn’t always work and you do have to tweak it a bit.

Right you are. I had to reduce the detail to this before I could carve it in the size needed (something like 1.25 x 3").

Here’s one I did with V Carve. I scanned some artwork and then spent two hours getting just right. Lots of detail work. The actual machining took about 45 minutes.
