Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - AwesomeOpossum74 - 05-07-2017 I just got this table from a friend. Don't know how old it is, but I'm sure it's better than my Skil table with fiberboard top. This one needs proper 3" insert plates, but I can't find a model number for the table to match plates to. I was wondering if anyone might know what plates would work? RE: Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - AwesomeOpossum74 - 05-07-2017 May have answered my own question. On a whim I tried the fit of the ring from my Skil, and it fit perfectly, even the table height. So I think I can just order new ones for that and I'll be set! RE: Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - bob-t - 05-07-2017 Not for a craftsman, but I have made ones from 1/4 or 1/8 hard board. This allowed me to use larger than what the standard opening. They were for a grizzly shaper. RE: Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - AwesomeOpossum74 - 05-07-2017 I considered making one from 1/8" oak panel. I guess I'd have to sand it flat if it sticks up. RE: Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - Lynden - 05-07-2017 It looks like the model number of your router table is 171.25484. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sears-Craftsman-Industrial-Routing-Center-Owners-Manual-25484-/302301355654?hash=item4662909e86 https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/31357867_craftsman-professional-routing-center If you look through Google Images, the same aluminum top (and insert rings?) may have been used on other Craftsman router table models. Also, from the pictures it appears that the top half of your router table is a bench-top model and the bottom half is a base unit. craftsman router table RE: Old Craftsman Router Table Needs Insert Plate? - AwesomeOpossum74 - 05-08-2017 This is great info, and will help me get moving!
