I just got this table from a friend. Don't know how old it is, but I'm sure it's better than my Skil table with fiberboard top. This one needs proper 3" insert plates, but I can't find a model number for the table to match plates to. I was wondering if anyone might know what plates would work?
May have answered my own question. On a whim I tried the fit of the ring from my Skil, and it fit perfectly, even the table height. So I think I can just order new ones for that and I'll be set!
Not for a craftsman, but I have made ones from 1/4 or 1/8 hard board. This allowed me to use larger than what the standard opening. They were for a grizzly shaper.
If you look through Google Images, the same aluminum top (and insert rings?) may have been used on other Craftsman router table models. Also, from the pictures it appears that the top half of your router table is a bench-top model and the bottom half is a base unit.
