diamond cone for hollow chisel mortiser - mr_skittle - 12-16-2019 Hey Folks, I've been looking for a sharpening cone for a 5/8 mortising bit. I got some off ebay that are too small for this larger size chisel. I was watching a Bob Van Dyke video on FWW and he had a set of huge cones that would sharpen any size mortiser bit but I cannot find them at all. Does anyone know where to find these huge cones? Here's the link to the video. https://www.finewoodworking.com/2014/06/02/how-to-sharpen-hollow-chisel-mortising-bits?source=W1724ENL&tp=i-H43-BC-Ecv-hefo3-1o-1ihz-1c-hfE7H-13x3v5&sourcekey=W1724ENL&utm_campaign=fine-woodworking-eletter&utm_source=eletter&utm_medium=eletter&utm_content=fw_eletter&cid=56229&mid=645076275 RE: diamond cone for hollow chisel mortiser - Stwood_ - 12-16-2019 Seems Grizzly had some. I use 400g on a flat surface and hit the outsides. Never touched the inside. For whatever that's worth... RE: diamond cone for hollow chisel mortiser - KyleD - 12-17-2019 You really do not need one large enough to just plunge in. A diamond stone needs to move around as it is used or it will stop removing material and just create heat after that. it is much better to gently move the stone in and out of the chisel while also slowly going around the bore. RE: diamond cone for hollow chisel mortiser - Bill Holt - 12-17-2019 I got mine at Woodcraft. |
