After a lot of years of use the tires on my Jet 18" BS need replacement. I have ordered them from Peachtree and expect them in about a week. I have never replaced BS tires so I have one question. Can it be done on the machine or do I need to take the wheels off and do it?
Thanks,
Ken

You have to take the wheels off to do it.

I hadn't planned on removing my wheels but after watching this video, I think that's the way to go. It'll probably be nicer on the bearings, too.

I have to replace one on my 14 inch band saw. I just snapped it the other day.

I just replaced the tires on my 14" Powermatic (same, I believe as Jet, but smaller than yours) with the ones shown below. Definitely had to take the wheels off, but really not very difficult - other than persuading the new tires onto the wheel which I did with a very smooth steel rod.

I found amother pretty good video. It takes him a while to get to the point but around 3:00 is when he really starts. This is the route I'm going.

Were those urethane tires on that saw previously and are the rims themselves crowned? If the answer to both is yes, then its a pretty easy job but the new tires may last around 10 years or so then you will be back to square one. Rubber tires will last a lot longer but are more work to put on, especially if they need to be crowned once mounted.

Exactly what I did. They were very well reviewed so I figured what the heck. Looking forward to screwing it up and having to order another set.
