Clamps came off, joints needed cleaned up...

   
Hmmm, we have ways...
 

   
To adjust the levels...
 

   
Finger grips were cleaned up..(Stanley Handi-grips?)
Ends were simply sanded  level...

   
Then a coat of stain was added...

   
Bottom first, then the sides...

   
Then all around the insides, trying to get into every corner..

   
Wiped the excess off at each stage....allow to dry for a day...
 

In-between Honey-do tasks
  managed to add a bit of Brass...needed a couple tools..
 

   
Screwdriver is a Stanley No. 1 point phillips, the Yankee 41 is a North Bros, pre-Stanley, 2 patent date drill..

IF the Honey-dos are down for today...I can apply some Clear Gloss poly?   may even post that here, as well

Still have a stack of scraps....two panels were glued up....then  cut to size  where they matches each other....then cut to shape
 

   
Then two others were trimmed to match each other,,,and dovetail pins were laid out on the end of one "side" piece..

   
usual suspects...then a bit of saw and chisel work..
 

   
Then these pins were used to lay out the tails....then more chisel work...the a dry fit...
  

   
Then repeat all of that for a second corner...
 

   
One day, I might just get organized....then watch out
 

Shaped a blank for the handle...

   
Will cut a tenon on each end, to fit a through mortise in the ends...

Thinking about adding a few dividers inside....to hold remotes and such...plywood bottom will just be glued on...

Edge grain dovetails have a tendency to snap of,,,if things get a bit too snug during dry fits.....got fed up with them, buzzed them all off.
..and nail and glued the tote together...
 

   
Including a plywood bottom...then worked on the dividers...

   
Bought a dowel to make a handle...the other blank looked too clunky

Dividers were sized, then notched so the center one could fit over them, and lock them in place, when I glued the center one to the bottom of the tote..

   
After the glue dried, things get a good sanding ( planes and nails don't play well, together) and a coat of stain applied

Missed a couple spots on the handle.
..can get them after bit...then maybe a coat of clear gloss poly?  

   
We'll see how it turns out.

There was indeed a few hand tools used...pilot holes for the handle needed drilled...then a countersink bit was used...
 

   
Hammer was just enough to drive those brass nails....and, for the mis-hit nails, and where the sides were too thin...decent pair of nail-pullers was needed..
 

   
That little red thing?   Is a Ratcheting screwdriver, will a rusted in place
  No. 1 Phillips bit...Dividers needed thinned down and jointed, until all were the same thickness ( and FLAT) and width...tool for that?

   
Stanley No. 3c, Type 11/12, with a SW iron....


Was trying out a "new"
  chisel...and no, it did not come from Ali's, either..

   
Used it right out of the "bag"...Flatten the back?  No....hone the edge?  Nope.....edge roll or chip using it on hardwood (Ash) using a hammer?  Nope, worked just fine.
  Bought it Menard's the other day....tired of Metric width chisels, and did not have a true 1/4" wide chisel I could use a hammer on..$9.29+ tax 

   
Other hand tools used....Had no trouble with the pins...it was those
  tails being the wrong grain direction...

   
Was only 4 tails per joint...loss of more than one wasn't a good idea...

   
At least those $3 harbor Freight 12" clamps do the job without any "issues"

Sanded and stained....

   
daughter is using this for jars of seasonings...

   
Even the plywood turned out decent...
 

   
So...last of the thin Ash scraps have left the building...working with $830 of treated lumber and hardware, now....
