I use carbide for bowl and vase corian as well as for rough turning bark or possible dirt in cracks. Hss steel cuts better once you learn how to use it correctly. Does take a while. I would never pay the prices a lot of the brands charge. Just my opinion. I feel everyone should be allowed to use their own prefference of tools. There are many ways to get to the same end point. So for me it depends on the project
