I did most of the carving with these two tools.
The burner is a luxury, a shortcut. Not necessary at all. Watch this . Thanks Roy Underhill & Mary May.

Lee Valley Carvers Vise with the
Lathe Chuck AdapterSort of a drive by gloat there since the fine folks at Lee Valley gave both to me for helping to develop the Lathe Chuck Adapter...
