Trouble fitting a Veritas replacement iron in an old Stanley
#14
Here's a simple fix that just occurred to me. The screw goes in only one way. All I need to is set it, mark the front edge, and file off the head a little bit on that side. This will give it a little more room in the frog so that I can extend the iron a smidge farther. And it won't affect the working of the screw.

does LV use a standard thread on those, like a 1/4-20 or 6mm x 1? If so, it would be pretty easy to cut it down on a lathe.  I could probably be talked into it.

Maybe chipbreaker movement coud by improved by grinding recess in the frog? For example dremel with cylinder-shaped stone.

Also make sure it is chipbreaker screw that restricts movement -- it could be also hole in chipbreaker colliding with top screw in the frog.
