The boring distance can change from 3 to 7 mm depending upon the amount of overlay with Blum's 110 Clip Top hinges.  Best to check the manufacturers info.  and/or make a test piece.

What I had was like the little plastic ones linked to.  IIRC the bit wasn't much so I bought another that has served well.  I just need the plastic piece but, if the measurement can be determined, its easy enough to make a jig set to hold the drill mark 2 or 3 inches from the top or bottom of the door.  I've used the missing jig for several brands of hinge.  Overlay and flush doors and for joining bi-folds.  They've all been 35 mm and the same distance from the edge.

Well yes and no.  You are right that you can change the overlay by changing the mounting plate thickness, but with any given mounting plate you also can change the overlay by changing the boring distance.   With Blums 110 Clip Top + hinges you can vary the overlay from 8 to 17 mm at 4 mm boring distance by changing from a 9 mm to 0 mm mounting plate.  But with any of the mounting plates you can change the overlay by 4 mm by changing the boring distance from 3 to 7 mm.   I see the advantage for a production shop staying with a mid range boring distance, but there is more than one way to skin the cat.  And if you need to work at the extremes of the overlay range then you have to change the boring distance.

I've got my hinge boring machine set up at 1/8" and that setting works with blum and salice hinges

The only ones that is true with are the specialty hinges like pie door or lift hinges 

door hinges from Blum, Grass and a multitude of others are all the same 

I never move the centering on my Omal boring machine and they all work just fine

I buy premade Maple doors for cheap, they are pre-drilled for 35mm Euro. I have always just bought the cheapest hinge I can find with some level of adjustability, and have never had a problem. 8 bux a door in a wide range of sizes. I simply can't make them that cheap, and they are clear stock Maple, made as well as I could if I were so inclined.

No it's doors, Maple, or Oak, he has several patterns, and a multitude of sizes. I buy about a pick-up truck full of them at a time, and have learned just to throw out silly numbers to him. He's just a guy who buys semi loads out of Kentucky. I'm not sure of his price point, or how someone could sell to him for that low, and still be profitable, but this guy isn't some rich philanthropist. I can also get the oversize Melamine sheet goods for 7 to 9 bux a sheet if I want to use that for boxes. He has a cell phone, but it is never the same number for three weeks in a row, he's not good about paying such bills, and he sleeps in a back room of the shop/store. I have never heard of him shipping to anywhere, but locals can find him  at I75, and US63 at Monroe Ohio. He's headed toward the West on 63 heading toward the horse track/casino. Exit off northbound 75, at the end of the exit you have to bear hard to the left lanes to turn left at the first Left. Chipoltle on the right side as you turn. He's the second light blue colored pole building complex. His is inside a chain link fenced lot, his building is on the right. Dood is there all the time. Last I bought from him was around 9 months ago, could be he's still there, possibly he's gone. He used to talk about moving to lower rent, but I think for him to move all the merchandise he had is more than he would want to do, so if he's still going, he's still there would be my guess. He was working at GM, when they still had plants in Dayton. He pulled the plug on an early buy out, and put all of it into this business. He sells or starves daily.

I'm not finding his CL posting, maybe he bit the bullet, but this one is in Underwood Indiana and the pics look just like his piles of endless doors. This ad says 3 bux. I'd bet not all sizes are 3 bux. The guy I was buying from always said 15 bux a door, any door, but I would buy 75 to 150 at a time, and would call the price of 5 bux a door, once he took it, most times he would bid it up to 8 bux a door. It's the real life version of the "hunger games" if he was hungry the price went down, if he just sold a few truck loads the price went up. Some place in Lexington, or Louisville makes a bunch of doors. I have seen CL ads in a few places looked the same, piles of doors, low prices. I can't speak for any but that guy at Monroe, they were very nice doors. I imagine all are from the same source though.

I would be hard pressed to buy the lumber to make one door wider than 6" for 10 bucks After 12"" it would be impossible
