Something From the Yard

It's been a few years since I posted anything, but here it is. I salvaged a red oak stump from our yard and made it into this bottle rack.



The bottle stops are welded angle iron pieces screwed to the back.

Ok, you just can't post something like that and not explain how you did it? How'd you drill holes that big? Wine bottle sized hole saw or are these mini bottles?

BTW, pretty cool.

The bottles are standard wine bottles. The holes were drilled with a very large and very expensive forstener bit. The finish is aniline dye and Tung oil.

I like it.

I can see people wanting one of those. My daughter wants me to build a wine rank for her. She would love that. Just needs a few more holes for her. I can see one that sits on the floor also.
