On the other extreme, I went to the local steam powered tractor show out at Penns cave. There was a guy at the flea market with a #1 Stanley that had been in a salt spray for 50 years that was asking $550. This was when a mint condition example was going for $500. His explanation was "it's in the book" -- there was a book of plane prices back then. I said, "oh, okay" and left.
