May just go ahead, and complete Box #1....lid is out of the clamps..
A little bit big, but, I can cut away the "bad" parts, and make sure the rest is square and flat...
Managed to pick up some hinges, today...not so sure about the "new" Mitre Saw, though
May wait until it grows up

Cleared the decks for action...
needed the room to lay this out..

At least they stay in order, when i start spreading some glue..
And add a few clamps....that gray one would not stay put...so it got fired...used a H-F version....and a few more clamps

Checked both corners...
Not much room, either....will let this sit awhile....afraid to move it, it might explode!

After running around all day, yesterday ( a Me Time Road Trip
) and not much woodworking getting done....today was a few trips TO the shop..
Box is out of the clamps (went out and bought 4 new clamps at Harbor Freight) sides and all the edges planed and sanded smooth..
Cut and fitted a plywood bottom, and worked on getting the lid to size..
Used the vise as a clamp, and glued the bottom in place....later, after the glue dried...beveled the edges of the plywood..
Yesterday, I picked up a few things of hardware...test fitted feet brackets...
And installed them
Tools were almost too big, for the screws being used...
That be a normal sized pencil..
Was after I had snapped a couple of these off, doing the hinges, that I remembered to WAX the threads
 hinges? Picked those up, too....Lid part was easy, other than snapping two screws..
But, I needed some helping hands to attach to the case..
Left the clamps in place, and installed a couple handles..
Then got out a brush, and the stain....
Just a tease....have a few more views, IF anyone wants to see them..
Waiting on the stain to dry, then a coat of clear gloss poly

Parts for Box #2 seem to have a few fat spots....could plane them down...
 or, set up a zero clearance insert for the tablesaw...and just buzz the excess off
Fence also clamps down onto the plywood. otherwise, there is at least a 1/2" gap between the blade and the OEM insert. Thickness is set up for 3/8". Still need to run the blanks that will make up the lid for Box #2....then glue those up.
Thinking small through dovetails for the corners of Box #2.....

Wasn't a great day in the shop.....Resaw a few pieces of Ash....had the saw snag the pushstick and send it flying backwards to the wall...small mark on the palm of the hand...no blood, though
Got the four parts for Box #2 to almost the same sizes...had to joint a few wider edges..
Then gang all four up, and do them all at once...
Set 3 aside, and did a bit of layout....
Yes, I do pins first....then ..
A backsaw did a little work
Then set up for a bit of chopping..
Just ONE chisel?
Mallet is the Rowdy Yates Rawhide model..
By the time i was done chopping for the day..
Got one corner done....was getting to the point I was about throw things against the nearest wall...
I think that will do for one day....I also cleaned up one of the "treasures from the Road Trip"
4" pair of dividers, stamped as a Union Tool Co. item...laid the rest of the tools out...
various makers....the outside calipers ...
Is marked as a Great Neck model. Put the toys away, and closed the shop...
Maybe later this week, I can get the rest of the corners done?

Almost forgot....sorted through the stack of resawn Ash...and found two that just about matched each other, in size, and grain....even the edges matched
Spread some glue, add a couple clamps...now have a blank for a lid, for this second box....

Ok, shed-in-a-box is done....was way too nice outside yesterday to work in a basement.....however, today was mid 50s, drizzlely rain all day...perfect to hide in the shop....until I was informed WE had to go to the store
......still managed to get a wee bit done...
Saw came from that Hobby Lobby Mitre box......needs a coat of candle wax to move along...hard for my old hands to grip....easier to start in a cut, than my backsaw No.4......and takes about twice as many strokes to make the cut..
Can split a line, and leave traces of the line on both sides of the cut..got this clamped up..
Chop halfway through, flip over..
And remove the waste. Then use these pins to mark out the tails...saw on the waste side, leaving the lines...and chop out the waste..
Then try a dry fit...to see how much fine tuning I'll need..
set this aside...layout more pins for the next corner....
Was all set to chop...when I was told WE had to go to the stores..
May sneak back done later this evening....BTW...still have plenty of thin Ash boards..
maybe enough to do a third box?

Ok, weather is nasty outside...good day to stay in the shop....between runs to a store....and lunch...was finally able to sneak off to the shop about 1:30pm...or so....went to mark and cut the tails for corner #3...only to find the end had split along the glue line..
..cut and chopped the tails anyway...tried a dry fit..
Three corners done, which left...
This one...laid out the pins, tried the old No. 4 backsaw to make the cuts....was having "issues" so, it got replaced, again
As long as the blade stays waxed up..the only problems were with my hand....doesn't like that style of handle..wants to cramp up..
Once the pins were chopped out, I could mark out the tails.....went to cut inside the waste sides of the lines...BANG..whirrrr blade broke
trudge back upstairs to get a spare blade, all i had left was a 3/16"...should be ok for this size of tails?
New chisel? Nah...reground this 1/4" H-F chisel years ago....edge looks like a triangle...
Did a dry fit of the last corner (along with the 1st corner)..
Figures, I get to the last corner, before I get this dovetail stuff down pat
Ok, spread some glue, add a few clamps...split end had been in a couple clamps to glue the split back together....reused those, among others..
The 1x1? not glued. I noticed the sides wanted to bow in at the middle, so, I cut a couple 1xs to the exact length between the non-bowed ends, then tapped the 1xs into place..
then added the rest of the clamps...can't have too many clamps, right?
Should be enough, you think? Let this mess sit overnight....have a lot left to do to it..
