Yep, I was eyeballing that jointer.

I have an old Rockwell-Delta 8" aircraft carrier in my shop, but your machine is a nice one.

Anybody that has ever learned auto body work will not be the least bit concerned about that surface rust.

Guns are supposed to be dangerous. If yours is not dangerous you need to take it to a gunsmith and have it repaired.
