I've got two American Standard Cadet 3 toilets that are going to need fill valves soon. We've got really hard water and they are getting fill of minerals.
I've replaced one in the past with one of the Fluidmaster units from the BORG. It worked just fine, but was substantially noisier than the unit it replaced.
Spelunking around Amazon provides a plethora of choices, but no inclination of noise.
Any recommendations of a quiet valve would be greatly appreciated.

this one. I've put it 2 of mine and after my in-laws leave in a few weeks I will replace the valve in their toilet also.

Over the 35 years we have been in this house, I have replaced the toilet valves several times with Fluidmaster. I like them but they just don't seem to last very long (year or two). Last replacement was with a modern version of the old type with the ball float on the long arm (don't remember the brand. Similar to
this ). Both have lasted several years so far and are not too noisy.

I used Korky valves when I fixed our toilets about 8 years ago.
They are still going strong.
Make sure you replace the flapper while you're at it.

I'm beginning to think they are the junk of the market. Cheap in price.
Ours last a couple years.
Replaced one a month ago, and it liked to stick shut after flushing.
Messed with it, reset, repositioned,
............I think it finally wore in. Hasn't stuck in about a week now.

I use fluidmaster and while i don't believe there is anything fantastic about them i don't see them lasting any worse than others and I am responsible for a crazy number of toilets

Korky Platinum is my go to. Why haven’t you installed a water softener? Your missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures.
Any free advice given is worth double price paid.
