The OP had nothing to do with M&T joints. There really is not an opportunity for M&T here, and the question was between nails and pocket screws.

I fixed a leg on a hunnert year ol' veneered table this summer.
The skirt was held on with..............flat head pocket screws. It was in fine shape.

I use a lot of pocket screws.
