Back in May in this post I asked the Woodnet brain trust their thoughts on using a tool cabinet as a router table base. After some discussion I decided to build a modified version of Norm's table to incorporate an Incra fence. After sketching out the changes I'd want to incorporate in Norm's design to utilize the Incra it became obvious to me that the tool cabinet was a more effective way for me to end up with a router table.
I bought the Craftsman cabinet at my local Lowes and ordered the top from Incra. Everything else I had bought used over the past year or two. A 3 1/4hp PC, Woodpeckers PRL1 and an Incra LS17 fence. Other than cutting the router hole and mounting the top, the only changes to the cabinet were to the drawers. Removing the top two didn't allow enough room for the router so I removed larger the third drawer and replaced it with the top shallow drawer. The slides were pop riveted in place so just drilled them out to remove, the cabinet was pre drilled so reinstalling was a snap. I fabbed an access door for the router using the pull from one of the drawers.
Here's the completed table:
Comments welcome, thanks for looking.
