According to this LINK, the finish is equal parts tung oil, BLO, and gloss varnish.

I've heard this a number of times over the years.

You can buy it prepackaged from Rockler.

I thought it was 1/3 parts of BLO, MS, and OB varnish/poly.

When Sam was alive, the local Rockler (about 5 miles from his house) sold the Maloof formula which I understood to be an oil and wax mixture. Do not know if it has changed in the interim.
Thanks,  Curt

according to Sept. 83 FWW -3 coats at 2 day intervals. Equal parts of poly varnish, raw tung oil, and boiled linseed oil."I then apply a final coat of a mixture I mix up on a double boiler: a half gallon each of tung oil and boiled linseed oil, with a couple of handfuls of beeswax grated in. Do this outdoors and be careful-linseed oil has a low boiling point."
